Skills in badminton are not mixed up: midfield left hook is an important defensive move when catching in midfield.

1. Left Hook Basics: (Let's take right hand racket as an example)

1.1. The basics of catching and hooking with a backhand at a long distance:

What is a long catch? This means that your opponent is hitting ball into your left field, which is far away from your body, and you need to take a step to right to meet it.

① When palm is facing down, arm is naturally extended and racket remains flat. Rice. 7-0

② While holding racket, press thumb of your right hand on small sloping edge of racket, with center of palm empty and tiger's mouth empty, and last two fingers tightly around end of racket. to form base of slingshot. Figure 7-1

③ After evaluating landing point of opponent's ball, turn around with your right foot on ground with your back to net and bring your feet into a step position as shown in fig. 7-2.

④ As ball flies, extend your wrist and hit ball. Figure 7-2

1.2. The basics of catching and hooking close-up backhand:

Unlike long-range catching and killing, when an opponent's flying ball is relatively close to you, you can simply place your right foot on ground without turning your torso and hit ball with your left foot.

① Keep palm down, keep racket horizontal and bend arm, but keep arm muscles tense to form a certain pattern of movement. The fingers do not move, and only wrist performs striking action. Figure 7-6

② Holding racquet is same as long-range grip and hook. Rice. 7-7

③ When dealing with a ball that is closer to body, you can throw your left foot straight, and body's center of gravity will be adjusted according to position of opponent's ball.

④ As ball flies, extend your wrist and hit ball.

⑤ After hitting ball, press hard with inside of your thumb on small oblique edge of racket, squeeze your palm with all your might and brake urgently. Figure 7-8
