How to practice
We need a partner, soccer ball and three logo discs.
Place three markers in a straight line at 20m intervals on a straight line 40m long.
On first logo disc, player starts to dribble.
On second disc with logo, defender starts game.
The defender must continue to observe surroundings, slowly turning back, and finally be able to smoothly retreat to third marker disc.
Watch intentions of other attackers.
The goal of training is to learn how to back off while maintaining a defensive stance, not to see if you can get ball back.
Continue this practice for two minutes and then swap with a teammate.
Key points of protection
Step back, don't push forward, and leave room behind.
Stand in a riding stance, keep your eyes on ball and open your body to face front of field.
Error Demonstration
Don't retreat too fast, this will leave too much room for other side.
This will allow enemy to shoot from afar.
Correct demonstration
Slowly move forward and backward at approximately 60% speed.
The defender's goal at this time is to slowly close distance between him and ball owner, leaving no gap behind him.
Pick up when time is right.
Seize opportunity
When opponent's ball owner is 25-30 meters away from your player, it's time to step forward and take ball.
Common mistakes
Intruders always use you as a breakout point!
Why is this?
Because you always like to ride at full speed.
How to fix this:
Step back when an enemy approaches you, and move in right direction when an enemy activates.
More Tips
The best defender is often not strongest and fastest player, but player with highest IQ.
Don't misunderstand first point: a strong body is very useful on defense, but if you write about physics in this way, it will only help you. The best defender is one who can read game and break offense. Your concern is Xiaobei's biggest motivation!
