Although main characters of a football match are players on both sides of field, role of referee cannot be ignored. free kick
A penalty imposed by referee when one of players commits a foul. The opposing player shoots directly at place where foul occurred and score counts. A free kick is a type of free kick.
free kick
The method of restarting a football match after it has been interrupted by an opponent's offside, etc. differs from a direct free kick in that if server kicks ball directly into the opponent's goal, it cannot be counted as a point.
replace
When a player on field is tired or injured, coach may call on other players to replace that player in order to balance number of players in game.
Throw-in
During game, if any player of team kicks soccer ball over side line, player of other team throws ball and game continues.
yellow card
In football matches, referees will issue yellow cards to warn players of certain infractions. Players who receive two yellow cards in a row in a game will be sent off.
Red card, warning red card
A football player is penalized for a serious foul. A player who receives a red card is immediately removed from field and cannot participate in the next game.
Continue resuming game
Continues game after the game has been interrupted.
offside
When an attacker passes ball in opponent's half of field, if this player is closer to opponent's goal than football, and the opponent's penultimate defender is closer to his goal, this is called offside.
